What Happens After You Win an Auction
What Happens After You Win an Auction
Congratulations! You've won an auction on FlyerWall. The countdown is over, and you have the highest bid (or you used Buy Now). Here's what happens next.
Step 1: Deal Created
As soon as the auction ends, FlyerWall automatically creates a deal between you (the buyer) and the seller. Both of you receive an email notification with the details.
You can find your deal in Dashboard → My Deals.
Step 2: Seller Pays the Success Fee
Before either party can see each other's contact information, the seller pays a small 5% success fee through a secure Stripe checkout. This is FlyerWall's way of covering platform costs while keeping listings free.
If the fee amount is very small (under €0.50), it's automatically waived.
Once paid, both parties can see each other's contact details and the deal moves to In Progress.
Step 3: Chat in the Deal Room
Every deal has a built-in Deal Room where you can message the other party in real time. Use it to:
- Agree on a pickup time and location
- Discuss payment method (cash, bank transfer, etc.)
- Ask questions about the item
- Share your phone number or other contact info
Messages appear instantly — no need to refresh. You can also continue the conversation via email if you prefer.
Step 4: Arrange Payment Yourselves
FlyerWall doesn't handle payments between buyers and sellers. You arrange this directly — whatever works for both of you:
- Cash on pickup — the most common and simplest option
- Bank transfer — for higher-value items
- PayPal or other services — if both parties agree
We recommend cash on pickup for local deals. It's safe, instant, and avoids any transfer complications.
Step 5: Confirm the Deal
Once you've exchanged the item and payment:
- Go to your deal in My Deals
- Click Confirm Deal
- The other party does the same
When both sides confirm, the deal is marked as Completed. 🎉
What If Something Goes Wrong?
If there's a problem — the item isn't as described, the other party doesn't show up, or there's a disagreement — you can Dispute the deal. This flags it for review and pauses the confirmation process.
We encourage both parties to communicate openly in the Deal Room to resolve issues. Most disputes are simple misunderstandings.

Tips for a Smooth Deal
- Respond promptly. The faster you communicate, the smoother things go.
- Meet in a public place for high-value items.
- Inspect the item before handing over payment.
- Confirm the deal as soon as you're satisfied — it helps build community trust.
Deals that aren't confirmed within a reasonable time may be automatically expired, so don't leave them hanging. Happy dealing!
